When conducting missions for the Air Force as the official Air Force auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol is now included in the Air Force's definition of the total force. CAP has provided 74 years of support to emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programs.

Eleven youth members of the David Lee "Tex" Hill Composite Squadron took to the skies over Hill Country this summer. The young adults, Civil Air Patrol cadets, were given the opportunity to fly as part of CAP's orientation flight program. "O-Flights", as they're called, are introductory in nature and teach cadets the basics of flying.

On Tuesday night, former Civil Air Patrol Lt. Col. David Bearce dropped into a weekly meeting at the David Lee "Tex” Hill Composite Squadron he founded in 1998. Bearce's surprise visit was a welcome bit of history for the squadron.

Ten cadet members of the David Lee "Tex" Hill Composite Squadron in San Marcos, TX, recently attended the Texas Wing 2015 Summer Encampment. Over two hundred cadets from across the state participated in military drills, team building exercises, physical training and educational sessions in aerospace, character development and leadership.

Cadet members of the David Lee "Tex" Hill Composite Squadron spent the weekend learning about aerospace sciences, rocketry and history. Over a dozen cadets attended the two-day, overnight event that featured classroom education and quizzes alongside rocket building and launching.

Cadets from the David Lee "Tex" Hill Composite Squadron recently had the opportunity to visit and tour Randolph Air Force Base, located in San Antonio, Texas. The squadron was able to take part in activities that new Airmen would experience as they progress through the United States Air Force.
