The
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) promotes and supports
aerospace education, both for its own members and
the general public. Such education helps prepare
American citizens to meet the challenges of a
sophisticated aerospace society as well as understand its
related issues.
CAP offers more than 30
educational products, including a high school-level
textbook, "Aerospace: The Journey of Flight," and
the middle-school-level, "Aerospace Dimensions."
Teachers can get free classroom materials and lesson
plans from CAP by joining CAP’s Aerospace Education
Membership program. All CAP materials meet National
standards.
CAP joins with the
U.S. Air Force each year in sponsoring the National
Congress on Aviation and Space Education, (NCASE)
the Nation’s premier conference in this field.
There, educators from across the country learn how
to use aviation and space themes in a variety of
subject areas. CAP has sponsored NCASE since 1967,
and its programs reach more than 50,000 students
each year.
CAP also sponsors
several prestigious awards for those who promote
aerospace to the field.
